IGBEMO CONSULTATIVE ASSEMBLY (ICA)

The ICA is being initiated and funded by the IDO to brain-storm on wherefrom, where we are and new directions for community regeneration and socio-economic- political development. Chief Olorunda Akinwande is targeted to chair the first assembly.

The responsibility for a successful assembly rests squarely on all stakeholders in Igbemo development. The following members have been suggested to work in an advisory committee of the ICA.

Pa Enoch Oloniniyi, Chief Ayodele Akindahunsi, Mr. Tuyi Olonisakin, Chief Olorunda Akinwande, Chair, Engr. I.O. Dayisi, Prince Mathew Daramola,  Chief M.T. Balogun (Aro of Igbemo), Chief Oloniyo Olajide, Mr. Tunde Akindahunsi, Alhaji Jimoh Shittu, Justice Cornelius Akintayo, Barrister Taiye Lawal, Mr. Agboola, Mr. I.K. Daramola, Chief S.O. Olowojeje, Mr Oyesanya, Chief Titus Oladunni, Chief Olu Oloniniyi, Chief Tayo Ilori, Bayo Oguntuase (Secretary)

IGBEMO YOUTH CARNIVAL (IYC)

The IYC is planned as an outreach programme for our youths. It will particularly target youths and people aged 18 -25 inclusive of final year high school students.

The event will consist of cultural displays, football match against another community, a lecture, group based mentoring sessions and some other events.

The carnival lectures / talks will highlight the challenges facing the youths of today, opportunities, and new ways of survival through planning, perspiration and prayer.

There will be some food and drink as well as some little awards to recognize good character and enterprise at that level.

The Youth leader will initiate detailed activities. He has the overall responsibility for a frugal budget and programme success.

IGBEMO CONFERENCE OF CHAMPIONS (ICO)

This conference is being planned to coincide with the installation of the next Oba. It aims to bring together Igbemo first team in all spheres of life for purposes of socialisation and community service. To really provide a boost and the kind of motivation and reorientation required of Igbemo champions, and in order to generate funds, the ICC will hold at Ado Ekiti, the state capital. The ICC will raise major partner funds for the IDTF as well as donor funds for IDO social projects including the community service awards ICSA

This conference intends to be able to bring everyone home for the installation of the next Oba. Igbemo indigenes would be required to pay #2,000 for registration to attend and to qualify as a champion. Food and drinks will be served free up to #500.00 each.

IDTF PROJECTS FOCUS

Project selection and funding will be driven by the principles of maximum impact, regeneration and sustainability. Accordingly, projects would focus on a few core areas of social and economic impact to the extent that the core capital will achieve concrete targets without diminishing in value and also yielding good returns that pays operational expenses.

Investment decisions will be undertaken with at least 75% agreement of members of The Trust, with a proviso that 100% of core capital contributors must agree to specific projects requiring more than #50,000, that is, 50 percent of a major partner’s fund. The Secretary to the Trust Fund has the duty of reaching out to all members of the Trust on all matters pertaining to project selection, funding and actual cash backing.

The Trust will be registered as a charity and operate as a community enterprise. Accordingly, it will not seek profits even though it will pursue break-even margins. Being a charity, the Trust will not, for instance, invest in equity participation or development stocks as such efforts have no direct and immediate impact on the live and status of the Igbemo community. Likewise, unless where the Fund is able to source dedicated funds, financial commitment to projects such as a community centre, school adoption, investitures and socio-political sponsorships will not be funded directly by the Trust.

The Trust Fund will have a local home based committee as trustees who will oversee the project executive assistant and ensure commitment to a new era for Igbemo community development.

We look for suggestions in the following areas:

  1. Do you agree with the name of the project- IDTF?
  2. Suggest a list of four or five objectives, each defined in simple sentences.
  3. Suggest a list of between five and ten core projects.
  4. Suggest a list of five do's and five do not’s in project choice and funding
  5. Compose a list of about 10 partners you think will be people of like minds whom the project should specifically target.
  6. Suggest five main headings of our constitution to provide guidance for a lawyer who will handle registration and incorporation.
  7. Any other matters of interest

IGBEMO COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARDS (ICSA)

This programme is being planned to hold every two years. It plans to introduce a culture of award for community service and also motivate Igbemo indigenes to greater heights through competitive awards for students / occupations. In effect, it will recognise and celebrate indigenes for personal success in their callings and for excellence in community service.

The maiden event, which will be low key is planned to hold same week end with the Igbemo Consultative Assembly (ICA).

There will be two kinds of awards as follows:
Community service awards and Competitive awards

Mr. Yisa Balogun has been identified as project chairman. He will constitute a team of five to package and implement the project. He has the responsibility for a frugal budget and successful outing.
