About Us
The world is moving fast and the strong is becoming stronger whilst the weak is becoming weaker. This applies much more to towns and villages than to individuals, organizations, societies and nation states. Coming nearer home, our native community of Igbemo has suffered from the collapse of rural farming, neglect of the rural populace, governmental non-performance, rural-urban migration and youth joblessness. Our jobless youths seem to be confused about life and the elderly, who have become much older have withdrawn from the centre-stage of community service, even as most of our traditional chieftaincy positions are vacant. Development appears to be negative rather than positive. Everyone seems to be on their own and helpless. Confusion has crept in and the time was ripe to stem the tide.
In the circumstance, the indigenes of Igbemo Ekiti in diaspora rubbed minds together and agreed to form the Igbemo in Diaspora Organisation (IDO). The IDO will exist as an independent, non-partisan organisation dedicated to Igbemo community regeneration, youth empowerment, reward for community service, political relevance and socio-economic development.
The IDO will initiate, develop and promote community cohesion and enhance entrepreneurship and socio-economic activities through mentoring, project sponsorship as well as through the facilitation of mutually beneficial relationships between Igbemo community and numerous partners in business, governance, charity and community enterprise at local, state, national and international levels. The mission is to regenerate our community and jump start development.
