Towards Self Help Community Development

The Home
of
Rice

The world is moving fast and the strong is becoming stronger whilst the weak is becoming weaker. This applies much more to towns and villages than to individuals, organizations, societies and nation states.

Igbemo-Ekiti community, a traditionally prosperous agricultural town –“The Home of Rice” has suffered from the collapse of rural farming, neglect of the rural populace, governmental neglect and non-performance, rural-urban migration and youth joblessness. Jobless youths seem to be confused about life and the elderly, who have become much older has withdrawn from the center-stage of community service. Development appears to be negative rather than positive.  Confusion has crept in and the time was ripe to stem the tide.IDO

In the circumstance, the indigenes and true friends of Igbemo Ekiti in the Global Village (home and abroad) has come together and agreed to initiate, develop and promote community cohesion, enhance entrepreneurship and socio-economic activities through mentoring, project sponsorship as well as through the facilitation of mutually beneficial relationships between Igbemo community and numerous partners in business, governance, charity and community enterprise at local, state, national and international levels.
